What it does
One of the largest logistics companies received a customer request to store every Proof of Delivery (POD) and proactively follow up with carriers for any missing ones. In the event of a customer inquiry, the company needed to be able to promptly provide the relevant PODs from their records.
However, with thousands of packages shipped daily, manually downloading PODs was extremely time-consuming and inefficient. It became clear that automating this process was essential to saving time and reducing operational overhead.
Design features
A custom software script was developed to automatically download PODs from carriers such as KLG and Mainfreight. The documents are stored in structured, dedicated folders for easy access. Additionally, if a POD is missing, the system sends automated email requests to the relevant carriers to retrieve it.
Technology features
The solution integrates with carrier portals using secure authentication, automates file retrieval and sorting, and leverages scheduled email triggers to ensure no POD is overlooked. It runs autonomously and can be extended to support new carriers or reporting features as needed.
